Press Release
Tech Sonic & Clean As New Gulf Coast
For years, participants in the refinery and chemical industries have been asking Tech Sonic to expand the delivery of its exclusive technology and cleaning services. Continue reading.
Tech Sonic has developed a combination of proprietary and patented technologies that clean heat exchangers and associated process components to like-new efficiency levels, unrivalled by any current conventional cleaning methods.
What other Industrial Service Provider offers their clients that assurance?
Tech Sonic’s cleaning technology does four things very well, and has, over the last decade, provided clear and well demonstrated benefits in many aspects of refinery (or petrochemical) plant economies:
We clean heat exchangers and process components to a Clean-as-New condition and, in doing so, reduce energy consumption, increase production and provide longer maintenance intervals, all of which have a significant positive impact on a plant’s bottom line.
Shell has published that our technology cleans heat exchangers “twice as fast at half the cost”. When it comes to process components, the time saved is even more dramatically increased. When a plant shuts down for a maintenance event, significant amounts of money are spent to remove, clean, possibly repair and re-install heat exchangers and process components.
When shutdown, the plant is not able to deliver the product(s) that generate profits, so faster cleaning means reduced downtime, which, in turn, can mean an earlier restart and higher production.
Our technology doesn’t eliminate hydroblasting — it works in conjunction with it. Tech Sonic’s approach does, however, remove the need for ›75% of high-pressure equipment and labor on a wash pad. Also, we never use manual hydroblasting to clean or rinse anything (the use of manual hydroblasting is one of the largest risks of worker injury or death).
The risks associated with hydroblasting are largely mitigated when you use our technology and processes — by reducing the required labour by 75%, using only automated or semi–automated tools, and eliminating manual hydroblasting completely, there simply is far less opportunity for injury.
Since we clean heat exchangers and process components to as–Good–as–New condition, a plant will receive the benefit from the energy savings associated with increased heat transfer performance.
The delta between a heat exchanger cleaned by hydroblasting alone and one cleaned using Tech Sonic is typically ›20%, leading to a significant energy savings during operation.
Additionally, we use ›80% less water than hydroblasting alone at the washpad. Not only are these results great for the environment, but less water consumption means less wastewater to treat. All of these benefits reduce a client’s environmental footprint while improving the bottom line.
“The Refinery decided to test clean four Compabloc units using the new process proposed by Tech Sonic. With the clean Compablocs back in operation, the refinery client captured the throughput and heat transfer data rates to reveal an annual (bpd) recovery of US$4.27M.”
“Tech Sonic Cleaning Systems are twice as fast at half the cost of traditional hydroblasting. We achieve thorough, complete cleaning that is non-destructive compared to conventional applications.”
“We achieved a 27% increase in production of Ammonia after Tech Sonic cleaned our C-109 process train heat exchangers.”
“Our flow rates improved from 160 to 260 meters cubed per hour after using Tech Sonic’s innovative cleaning technologies. Truly amazing.”
“The heat exchanger that we cleaned Friday is operating very well. Overall heat transfer efficiency increased 50%.”
